Without a method of converting the power produced by the engine into useful thrust an aircraft would just be sitting still and creating a lot of noise and not get anywhere. In the past, all kinds of different propeller designs were tried: sometimes flat wooden blades, from one bladed counter weighted to multiple blade models rotating at various speeds.
Most aircraft propellers are nowadays build from a fine selection of materials like wood, metals and carbon or other fibers to form a strong construction.
Bolly propellers are a product of over 25 years experience in design and manufacturing of carbon composite propellers. All components manufactured in-house by Bolly Aviation in Australia.
Bolly Aviation is 100% Australian owned and operated and has been in the aerospace industry for over 25 years, designing and manufacturing carbon composite components. Starting as Bolly Props in 1978 manufacturing propellers, Craig Jones and Peter Tapp, who were both once employees, took over Bolly Products and renamed the company as Bolly Aviation in 2009.
The basic design resulted from decades of experience with computer aided drawing and analysis. To date there are about 5 series of propellers with power outputs from 15 to 180 hp.
CNC milled tooling is used for optimum accuracy, this is combined with carbon fiber epoxyEpoxy construction and resulting in an super lightweight and strong product. All metal components used are CNC machined from aviation grade alloys to exacting tolerances for perfect workmanship.
Bolly Optima Series Propellers are perhaps the best range sports aviation propellers available to date. The designers started with the proverbial clean sheet and came up with the best propeller they could. For this to happen they were using the latest in design and carbon fiber construction techniques.
This propeller is available in two up to four blade configurations.
The Bolly Brolga range Sport and Magnum propeller is a low cost high performance ground adjustable Prop, with many advantages and options for the customer to choose from.
Not many propeller manufacturers supply their customers with a special pitch gauge to be able to adjust the blades with the correct pitch for their aircraft. Super!
Of course, Bolly also supplies their customers with spinners to make the aircraft look good and maintenance manuals to be able to service their propellers.
