Without a method of converting the power produced by the engine into useful thrust an aircraft would just be sitting still and creating a lot of noise and not get anywhere. In the past, all kinds of different propeller designs were tried: sometimes flat wooden blades, from one bladed counterweighted to multiple blade models rotating at various speeds.
Variable pitch propellers have a distinct advantage compared to fixed pitch models. This translates into a more fuel efficient, higher performing aircraft with much improved rate of climb and shorter takeoffs for those tight places!

KievProp produces a range of ground adjustable pitch propellers especially designed for ULM and LSA aircraft with diameters of 1.7 to 1.8 m for left hand rotation and diameter of 1.6 to 1.9 m for right hand rotation with three up to six blade options.
The propellers are designed to be installed on aircraft with engines that incorporate a gearbox with torsional damper or belt drive reduction unit to reduce the propeller RPM and provide shock absorption (some of those engines are: Rotax, Hirth, HKS, BMW TakeOFF, Simonini).
The three blade models are limited to 140 hp, four blades to 160 and the maximum for the five and six blade propellers is 180 hp. The KievProp blades can be used on all models.
When you buy a KievProp it will come complete with a hub plus installation bolts and nuts, pitch adjustment device, fastening bolts and protective blade covers. As you see, a very complete product!
Additionally, should you require a spacer so that the propeller is extended from the engine, KievProp has a number of these pre-drilled spacers available in several sizes from 15 mm (0.6") up to 80 mm (3.1"). Spacers are used to move the propeller clear from cowlings and or radiators and in the case of pusher aircraft into more undisturbed airflow reducing noise.
The propeller (and spacer) are mounted with six bolts to the engine flange. Its pattern has a diameter of 75 mm. The factory recommendation to torque the bolts is 25 Nm.
Basically, all types of light sport aircraft (LSA) and ultralights are suitable. Experimental aircraft owners should contact the factory if they are planning to install an engine other than a Rotax 912/914 and wish to buy a KievProp.
